Description
This building is a dovecot located at Holland Farm on Papa Westray, likely dating from the early to mid-18th century. It has a rectangular plan and was originally designed with crowstepped gables, although the top courses of the walls are now partially missing. The exterior is finished with harled coursed rubble. There is a rat ledge below the eaves on the lower height south elevation, which continues at a slightly higher level on the other elevations. The east side features two square flight holes above the ledge, and the entrance is also located on the east side. Inside, there are nesting ledges and remnants of brick divisions that would have been used for nesting boxes. The roof of the dovecot is currently missing.
