Description
The dovecot at Colinton Castle, located on Colinton Road in Edinburgh, dates back to the 17th century. It is a single chamber, rectangular-plan structure with a gabled roof and a low, arched entrance on the east gable. The building is constructed of random rubble and features long and short quoins, as well as a stringcourse and remnants of an eaves course. Inside, there are stone nesting boxes along all the walls. The dovecot was originally crowstepped, but the walls are now in a ruinous state and heavily overgrown, and the structure is roofless.
