Description

3 Rustic Cottages in Edinburgh, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer in 1900, is a single-storey and attic, 3-bay, T-plan cottage. It features an English vernacular style with a pair of large boat-shaped dormers that break the eaves at the attic on the north side. The building has a bell-cast piended roof with a central stack. The exterior is finished in painted render, with sandstone rubble used for the dado of the door reveals, sandstone cills at the ground level, and red tile cills on the dormers. There is a basecourse present.

The entrance consists of a timber boarded door with a glazed upper section, centrally located within a deep arch that has splayed reveals, forming a porch. On either side of the door are tripartite casement windows, with bipartite dormers located above. At the rear (south), there is a lean-to scullery outshot, and the attic features piended roof dormers.

The timber casements have 6-pane glazing, and the chimney stack is coped with tall clay cans. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and black ridge tiles. Additionally, there is a rubble boundary wall surrounding the property.
