Description
Heather Cottage is a single-storey, three-bay cottage built around 1810, located on Colinton Road in Edinburgh. The cottage features a gabled roof, with the central bay slightly projecting and adorned with a pediment that has a blocked oculus in the tympanum. The exterior is finished with modern painted harl and has bracketed eaves.
The south-facing façade includes timber sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing across the three bays, with the central window replacing what was originally a door. The stone skews and corniced gable-head stacks are topped with thake-stones. The roof is covered with later graded grey slate, which is set at a different pitch compared to the gables. The cottage also has modern extensions to the west and north.
