Lady Anderson Memorial Cottage, 1, 1B Thorburn Road, Colinton, Edinburgh

Lady Anderson Memorial Cottage, built in 1921 by Begg and Lorne Campbell, is a single-storey and attic cottage located at 1, 1B Thorburn Road in Colinton, Edinburgh. The cottage features crow-stepped end gables and shouldered gable-end stacks, with an asymmetrical forward-facing gable at the front and a dormer with a shaped dormerhead at the rear. A canted corner on the northwest side displays the inscription "THE LADY ROWAND ANDERSON MEMORIAL COTTAGE." The exterior is constructed of snecked, rake-jointed yellow sandstone, accented with grey sandstone ashlar for the window and door dressings. It includes a base course and an eaves course.

The cottage has non-traditional uPVC doors on the east and west sides, while the main door on the west is framed in a roll-moulded architrave, featuring a cartouche above inscribed with "MA 1929 RRA." This cartouche is flanked by scrolls and topped with an angel head. The windows are irregularly arranged, predominantly featuring 16 and 24-pane glazing in modern casements. The shouldered stacks are topped with red clay cans, and the roof is covered with graded grey slate. Cast-iron down-pipes complete the structure.
