Windygates Road Cottage, Marly Knowe, Windygates Road, North Berwick

Windygates Road Cottage, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer in 1902, is a two-storey L-plan cottage with a first floor that breaks the eaves. The exterior is harled with a rubble base course and features raised cills.

On the northeast elevation, there is a broad gable with a half-piended roof, which includes a wide tripartite window at ground level and a smaller window above. An advanced gabled porch was added in 1972, and there is a boundary wall extending west at a right angle.

The west gable has a half-piended roof that sweeps lower to the left, with the entrance located in a recessed bay to the left of the north wing.

The south elevation has irregular openings at ground level, with an off-centre doorway.

The cottage features two bell-cast piended dormers, small-pane casement windows, and a slate roof. There is a harled roof stack by the re-entrant angle and diminutive boat-shaped ventilator mock dormers on the north side.
