57-65 Lothian Road, Edinburgh

57-65 Lothian Road is a four-storey, plain classical end-of-terrace corner building constructed in 1864. It features nine bays facing Lothian Road and three bays on the south side, with shops and a public house located on the ground floor. The building is made of coursed ashlar stone, with coursed rubble at the rear. There is a cornice above the shops and a moulded eaves cornice. The windows are regularly arranged and set in moulded surrounds. The entrance to the flats includes a timber panelled door with a plate glass fanlight, framed by a corniced and consoled surround in the central west bay. The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are corniced ashlar stacks at the ridge and splayed stacks at the wallheads on the south and east sides.
