Description
Late 19th century. 4-storey corner tenement with shops at ground. Cream sandstone, stugged ashlar with polished dressings to principal elevations, squared and snecked rubble to rear. Bold, roll-moulded reveals to ground floor openings; cill course at 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor; chamfered reveals; 3rd floor windows breaking eaves in finialled shaped dormerheads.
SE (LEITH WALK) ELEVATION: 4-bay including corner tower. Rectangular shopfront (boxed-in) to outer left; single window to bay to left of centre. Round-arched doorway in chamfered corner bay to outer right; large round-arched display window to bay to right of centre. 3-storey canted window to corner bay to outer right corbelled above ground floor with 3 linked dormerheads and finialled pyramidal roof. Single windows to remaining bays. Cross-section wallhead stack corbelled above 2nd floor to centre.
NE (BALFOUR STREET) ELEVATION: 3-bay; common stair doorway with window flanking to right of centre bay. Replacement shopfront to outer right (possibly encasing original). Large round-arched display window to outer left. Single windows to floors above.
W (REAR) ELEVATION: single windows.
Timber sash and case windows, mostly plate glass glazing and modern replacement windows, some 4-pane. Slate roof; wallhead stack (see above), mutual stacks. Crowstepped skews to front. Moulded eaves gutters.
INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
