Description

10-12 West Brighton Crescent is a later 19th-century, two-storey, five-bay rectangular house that has been subdivided and altered over time. The building features stugged ashlar with droved dressings, while the side and rear are constructed of rubble. There is a harled two-storey extension at the rear of No 10. The design includes a base course, a band course between the ground and first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. The quoins are slightly raised, and the first-floor windows have corbelled and moulded cills.

The southwest (principal) elevation shows No 10 with four bays, while No 12 is a single-bay dwelling. There are panelled doors in bays one and three, each with plate glass rectangular fanlights above. The first floor features windows in each of the intermediate bays.

On the northeast (rear) elevation, there is a two-storey extension to the outer left bay that includes an external stair. The front elevation has plate glass timber sash and case windows, while the first floor at the rear has multi-paned timber sash and case windows. There is a border-glazed window on the northwest elevation, possibly a staircase window. The roof is piended slate with a platform at the apex, and the rear extension has a flat roof. A sandstone wallhead stack is located on the northwest elevation, topped with a rendered brick and coped addition, while a rendered and coped wallhead stack is present on the southeast.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1994. The boundary walls are made of squared rubble with droved ashlar coping and were formerly topped with railings.
