6 West Brighton Crescent, Portobello, Edinburgh

6 West Brighton Crescent is a classical house located in Portobello, Edinburgh, designed by John Baxter around 1826. It is a single storey building with a basement at the rear and features three bays. The ground floor is finished in polished ashlar, while the basement has droved ashlar with rendered repairs. The northwest and southeast elevations are rendered, with the southeast elevation squared, and the rear is finished in bull-faced render. A band course separates the basement from the ground floor, and there is a moulded string course at lintel height, along with a cornice and blocking course. The openings have segmental-arched recesses.

The southwest (principal) elevation is symmetrical, featuring five ashlar steps leading to a central panelled door, which is topped by a rectangular multi-paned fanlight. Windows are located in the flanking bays.

The northeast (rear) elevation is not fully visible as of 1994, and there are various extensions at the rear.

The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, and the roof is a combination of piend and platformed slate, with a platform at the apex. There is a rendered and coped wallhead stack on the northwest elevation, a brick and rendered, coped wallhead stack on the southeast, and a bull-faced rendered wallhead stack at the rear.

The interior was not seen in 1994. The boundary walls are made of droved ashlar with coping at the front, which is broken to the right.
