Description
John Baxter, circa 1825 with later alterations. Single storey with basement, 3-bay with recesses bay to left, classical house within group of similar houses. Polished ashlar to ground, droved ashlar to basement; harled to NW and rear elevations. Band course between basement and ground; moulded string course at lintel height; cornice and blocking course; segmental-arched recesses to openings.
NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 5 ashlar steps with cast-iron handrails to panelled door with plate glass rectangular fanlight above to centre; windows to flanking bays (segmental-arched recesses cement rendered) and at bay to right of basement. Bay to left at basement now altered to create double door garage. Window to ground of recessed bay to left; glazed modern door to basement.
SW (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen fully, 1994; no extensions.
12-pane timber sash and case windows at ground of principal elevation; 9-pane to bay to right, basement; modern swing-pane windows to rear. Slate piended roof; rendered and coped wallhead stacks to front and rear of side elevations.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1994.
BOUNDARY WALLS: droved ashlar with polished ashlar coping to front, formerly with railings, now broken to left as access to garage; tall rubble and brick garden walls to rear.
