Description

The gazebo at Gilmerton House, located in Gilmerton, Edinburgh, is possibly from the 17th century. It features an arched design with a viewing platform facing northeast, situated within the grounds of Gilmerton Place House. The structure is built of rubble with rusticated ashlar quoins and includes a stair leading to the platform above. The broad segmental arch is adorned with rusticated voussoirs and a scroll keystone. Below the arch, the rubble walls lead to a grotto, while an ashlar frieze and a moulded cornice are positioned above. A dog-leg stair on the left, with moulded treads and an ashlar handrail, provides access to the platform, which has an ashlar coped parapet at the rear.
