Description
The gazebo at Milton Brodie is a mid-18th century octagonal structure that stands two stories tall. It is built of harl pointed rubble with ashlar margins. The building features windows on alternate faces, with some of the ground floor windows being blind. Access to the taller first floor is provided by an external staircase located on the north side, which has a cast-iron handrail. The windows are fitted with 12-pane glazing. The gazebo has a tall wallhead stack on the east side and is topped with a facetted pyramidal slate roof, complete with a weathervane.
Inside, the first floor contains an octagonal chamber that includes a small mural fireplace. There are wooden shelves set into the wall, framed with a shaped wooden surround that is painted to resemble carved reeding and a rosette. The ceiling features a painted rosette in the style of contemporary plaster ceiling roses.
