83 Drum Street, Gilmerton, Edinburgh

This mid-19th century building at 83 Drum Street in Gilmerton, Edinburgh, is a two-storey, three-bay former farmhouse that has been subdivided. The front is constructed of squared and coursed rubble, while the sides and rear feature random rubble.

The west elevation faces Drum Street and has widely spaced bays. There is a centrally located door with a simple scroll-bracketed doorpiece, flanked by windows, and three windows on the first floor. A small window is present at the ground floor on the left side of the north gable, while the rest of that gable is blind. Adjoining the south gable is a single-storey cottage.

At the rear, there is a modern stair providing access to the first floor. The ground floor features sash and case windows with four-pane glazing, while the first floor has replacement windows with adhesive astragals. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the skews have been removed, with rendered and lined stacks topped with ashlar coping.
