59 Marchmont Road, Edinburgh

59 Marchmont Road is a four-storey, four-bay tenement built in 1887 by William Hogg, designed in the Scottish 17th century style. It serves as the terminal block of a terrace and features squared and snecked stone with polished ashlar dressings. The building has a base course, a string course above the first floor, and a corbel table at the third floor. The gables are crowstepped with inset paterae in the outer bays, and there are semi-circular dormerheads with stone finials in the inner bays, along with chamfered reveals.

The west entrance elevation has a roll-moulded doorway at the center, topped with a hoodmoulding over a datestone. It includes a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, with a bracketed chimney breast above. There are single windows in the flanking bays and full-height canted windows that are corbelled to a square at the gablehead in the outer left and right bays. The south elevation features an M-gabled design with central single windows at the first floor and above. Square blank tablets are set between the second and third floors and in the gableheads. The windows are plate glass sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes a corniced gablehead stack to the southwest, a rendered and coped gablehead stack to the southeast, a coped mutual stack, and beak skewputts.

The interiors have not been seen since 1991. There is a low boundary wall along the street.
