Description
176 Newhaven Road is an early 19th-century, two-storey, five-bay house that is set diagonally towards the street, facing southwest. The building is constructed from cream rubble sandstone with slaister pointing and features stugged surrounds around its openings.
The southwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a central stone porch with chamfered angles and projecting eaves. Above the porch, there is a timber balustrade forming a balcony over a lengthened first-floor window. The remaining bays on both floors have single windows, while to the left of the porch on the ground floor, there is a bipartite timber casement window. The other bays feature two-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is piended and covered with grey slate in diminishing courses, with raised stone skews. The ridge stacks are symmetrically placed, made of replacement materials, and have projecting cornices with circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1996. Additionally, there is a boundary wall made of rubble with stone coping along Newhaven Road.
