Description

St Helen's is a later 18th century, three-storey, three-bay dwelling house located at 12 East Terrace, High Street, South Queensferry. The building features a band course and an eaves course, constructed from square and snecked rubble with raised margins. It has relieving arches above the ground and first floor windows.

The north elevation is symmetrical, with a central door that has a moulded architrave and a consoled cornice, topped by a fanlight consisting of four arched lights. There is a short forestair leading to the door. The windows are arranged in a regular pattern, with the second floor windows being square in proportion, and their upper lintels integrated with the eaves course.

The east elevation has an adjoining building at the ground and first floor levels, with a small window located in the right bay at the second floor. The south elevation also displays regular fenestration, featuring a central door at the ground level, another door in the right bay, and a small attic window. The west elevation is adjacent to another building.

The windows throughout the house include 12-pane sash and case windows, while the second floor windows have 6-pane sash and case designs. The roof is slate with straight stone skews, and there are rubble stacks at the gableheads. The interior was not seen in 2000.
