Description
St Margaret's in Ascog, Bute, is an early 19th-century cottage designed in a symmetrical, plain classical style. It is two stories high with three bays and features a stair tower located at the rear. To the outer left, there is a single-storey addition that is recessed, and a pitched porch that is accessed from the side at the rear. The exterior is finished with whitewashed harl, and the openings have painted surrounds.
On the entrance elevation, there is a part-glazed timber panelled door at the center of the ground floor, with a single window above it on the first floor. Each of the flanking bays also has a single window on both floors. The single-storey addition to the left has a flat roof.
The north side elevation includes a single window on the first floor, which is offset to the left of center. There is a door and a flanking window in the porch addition on the outer right, with the stair tower positioned behind it.
The cottage features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a graded grey slate roof, and coped rendered apex stacks with various circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1996.
