153 Clyde Street East in Helensburgh is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that has been subdivided. The exterior is rendered with painted margins, quoin-strips, and low eaves.

On the south elevation facing Clyde Street, there is a fanlit door at the center, with enlarged windows on either side. The first floor features three symmetrically arranged windows.

The west elevation facing Glenfinlas Street is a blank gabled wall.

On the north rear elevation, there is a stone forestair at the center leading to a timber enclosed porch on the first floor. There are two windows to the right at ground level and one window to the left. The first floor has a window on both the right and left sides.

The house has modern replacement windows, a grey slate roof with two rooflights on the north side, ashlar coped skews, and rendered corniced stacks on the gables.
