Description
East Lodge and Gate Piers at Baldovan House is an earlier 19th-century single-storey lodge with an irregular plan, designed in a picturesque style. The building is constructed from pink and grey rubble sandstone, featuring stugged quoins, droved and margined angles, and a slate roof. It has a base course, and the windows have chamfered margins, with some featuring slab canopies, although there are also unsympathetic uPVC glazing present. The lodge has deep eaves and Vitruvian scroll bargeboards, along with single and paired diamond stacks.
On the north elevation, there is a panelled door with an astragalled fanlight, which is sheltered by a canopy porch that extends from the eaves at the centre of the re-entrant. To the left of the door is a window, and to the right is an advanced gable with a canted window.
The west elevation features an advanced gable on the off-centre left with two windows, and a blinded window in a recessed bay on the right.
The south elevation has paired gables, with modern French doors and a conservatory on the left, and a door with a blocked window to the right.
On the east elevation, there is a window in the bay on the left and an advanced gable on the right.
The gatepiers and adjoining wall consist of two pyramidal-capped, corniced ashlar gatepiers, one flat-capped stugged ashlar gatepier, and an adjoining rubble wall.
