Description

Earlier 18th century, extended earlier 19th century, mid 19th century and early 20th century. Single storey, rectangular-plan steading type building, extended to W as cottages. Rubble masonry, stugged at mid 19th century addition at W, graded stone slate roof, grey slates at W of N pitch. Early 20th century kitchen/washing house addition at NW, cream brick with piended stone slate roof. Brick stacks. Windows mostly sash and case, plate glass at bottom, multi-pane at top.

S ELEVATION: original building at right; doorway with pink sandstone margined quoins, boarded double doors (inner door is stable type), window at right, right return gable has 2 small boarded windows at attic level. Earlier 19th century addition at left; door at centre, biapartite window at left, window at right. Mid 19th century addition at far left; door with later porch at right, window at left, window at left return gable.

N ELEVATION: original building at left; blocked doorway at centre, blocked arrow slit ventilator at left and right, later ventilator holes at eaves, truncated ridge ventilator. Additions at right; window at left and right, later brick addition at off-centre with door and windows.

INTERIOR: boarded coomb ceiling at original building, modern pig styes
