Description
This building, located at 1 of 2 Review Close on High Street in Montrose, has a core dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with alterations and additions made in the 19th century. It is a two-storey house with an attic and a three-bay rectangular plan, featuring a raised principal floor and constructed from harled rubble stone with plain margins.
On the west elevation, the house is adjacent to a single-storey building to the right at ground level. There is a door to the left, which is accessed by a forestair leading up to a central door on the principal floor. Flanking the door are windows, and above, there are gabled dormers. The right-hand bay is offset to the right and features timber barge boards and finials.
The north elevation shows a gable end that adjoins neighboring properties at the first and second floors, with a pend at ground level. The south elevation has a blank rubble stone gable end. The east elevation is asymmetrical, with a bipartite window to the left and a small window to the right at ground level. On the first floor, there are two windows and three gabled dormers, with the center dormer featuring a stone mullioned bipartite window.
The building has timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, stone skews, skewputts, and brick gablehead stacks. There is also a fanlight on the west pitch. The interior was not seen in 1997.
