2 Of 2 Review Close, 97 High Street, Montrose

This early 18th century house, with later alterations, is a three-storey rectangular building constructed of rubble stone, with some harled sections and plain margins.

On the west elevation, which adjoins 95 High Street, there is one bay to the right featuring a pend at ground level. Steps lead to the entrance at the first floor, which has cast-iron railings that are partly shared with No 97, known as "The Town House" of the Erskines of Dun. A window is located at the second floor above the entrance.

The east elevation is a two-bay gable end that is harled, with three windows at ground level. There is a pend to the left and a stone mullioned bipartite window to the right at the first floor. The gablehead has two small inset windows.

The south elevation, which adjoins No 97 "The Town House," features a door and a window at ground level within the pend.

The north elevation has two bays to the right, while the remainder is a blank section of rubble stone.

The building has a variety of timber sash and case windows, including 12-pane and plate glass styles. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are brick gablehead stacks on the west and east sides, with a later brick stack that breaks the eaves on the north side. The east elevation also features stone skews.

The interior was not seen in 1997.
