Description
45 Townhead is an early 19th-century, two-storey house with a basement and a three-bay rectangular plan. The exterior is harled and rendered, featuring ashlar dressings, a base course, eaves, and a low blocking course.
On the north elevation, there are double flight steps leading to a central entrance door located on the raised principal floor. The doorpiece includes a consoled cornice and a four-pane fanlight with rounded lights. Flanking windows have ashlar cills and plain margins, while the first-floor windows are smaller.
The east elevation has a blind gable end, as the neighboring property at 43 Townhead is built against it at ground level. This elevation is also rendered.
The west elevation shows that the gable ends of 45 and 47 Townhead are now connected by a bridging extension, with a passageway at ground level. The house features 12-pane timber sash windows, a shallow pitch roof covered in grey slate, skews, skewputts, and broad gablehead stacks.
The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1996.
