Description
56 Townhead is an 18th-century, two-storey terraced pair of properties that has undergone later alterations. The building is harled with a painted base course and margins. The left side features three bays, with a central door flanked by a 19th-century shop window on the left and a regular window on the right, along with three small windows on the first floor. The right side has a depressed arch pend entrance to the left, flanked by another 19th-century shop window, and two small first-floor windows above. The gable facing Glasgow Vennel is mostly blank, with a window on the first floor to the left and a small attic window to the right of the gablehead. The roof is covered with grey slates and includes a flush cast-iron rooflight, while there is a gablehead stack on the Glasgow Vennel side. The skews are swept at the eaves. The interior was not seen in 1996.
