Description
Shore House, located at 21 High Shore in Banff, is a mid-18th century house that has undergone many later alterations. It features three storeys and an attic over a raised basement, with three wide bays. The exterior is harled with painted ashlar margins. The central entrance is concealed by a portico that includes a balcony supported by a pair of slender cast-iron columns, which is accessed by a shallow flight of steps with a plain, later iron handrail. The windows have been significantly altered; there are bipartite windows on the ground floor left and in the outer bays of the first floor, which have taller windows. The second-floor windows are raised to break the wallhead, and there are two box dormers. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in timber sash and case frames. The house has corniced end stacks and a slate roof.
At the rear, there are similar alterations to the rear windows. The rear garden is enclosed by a high rubble garden wall.
