1 Arbuthnott Street, Stonehaven

1 Arbuthnott Street in Stonehaven is an early 19th century house, which may include some earlier materials. It is a tall, three-storey building with an attic and features three bays, along with balconies on the second floor. The exterior is stuccoed with stone margins, and the sides are constructed of rubble. There is a base course, an architraved doorpiece, and stone mullions with chamfered arrises.

The principal elevation faces southwest and is symmetrical. The ground floor has a central six-panelled timber door flanked by windows, while the upper floors feature regular fenestration. The outer bays on the second floor have bipartite windows and elegant segmental ironwork balconies. The roof includes three dormer windows arranged in a row, with the outer windows canted and the center window being a wide tripartite design with a piend roof.

The northeast elevation, or rear, shows a mix of architectural elements, including a lower outshot in the center bay and an altered roofline. The principal elevation has a 12-pane glazing pattern in the left first-floor window and a 4-pane pattern in the others, all made of timber sash and case windows. The dormers have a multi-pane glazing pattern, while the rear features modern glazing. The roof is covered with small grey slates, and there are broad, coped ashlar gablehead stacks with cans and ashlar-coped skews.

The boundary walls consist of low saddleback-coped walls to the southwest and tall semicircular-coped rubble walls to the northeast.
