Description

The Other Ranks' Mess at Gordon Barracks in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, was designed by J and W Wittet around 1935. This single-storey building features a 7-bay mess block constructed from squared granite rubble, with rockfaced base courses and finely tooled ashlar dressings. The structure has long and short quoins. The central entrance is located in an advanced gabled bay, which includes a keystoned architrave and a clock set into a voussoired panel above. The windows are multi-pane sash and case style. The building has straight skews and a slate roof, along with a large gabled extension at the rear.
