Description

Barrack Block A at Gordon Barracks in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, was designed by J and W Wittet around 1935. This two-storey building features a seven-bay layout, with a wider, advanced central bay that has a crow-stepped gable and an apex stack. The structure is made of squared granite rubble, with rock-faced base courses and finely tooled ashlar dressings, including long and short quoins. The central bay has three windows on each floor, while the outer bays contain windows arranged in pairs. All windows are narrow and feature multi-pane sash and case glazing. The building has straight skews, end stacks, and a slate roof, with the entrance located at the rear (north side).
