Description

The Officers' Mess at Gordon Barracks in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, was designed by J and W Wittet around 1935. It is a long, two-storey building constructed from squared granite rubble, featuring finely tooled ashlar dressings and long and short quoins. The central block has seven bays and is slightly advanced, with a central doorway that has a keystone. To the west, there are two lower, recessed blocks with seven bays, while to the east, there is a four-bay block. The building has multi-pane sash and case windows, straight skews, slate roofs, and end stacks. There are also various projections at the rear.
