Technical School, St Peters Street, Warrenpoint, Newry, Co Down, BT34 3NG

Symmetrical two storey school house on corner of St Peter’s Street and Thomas Street. Hipped natural slate roof with flue pipe to each end of ridge. Boxed eaves support half round metal rainwater goods (partially missing). Walls are unpainted lined cement render with chamfered basecourse, and platband between ground and first floor. Stepped V-channelled stucco quoins. Above platband, “TECHNICAL SCHOOL” is painted on the wall of the front and right elevations. All openings have plain lugged stucco architraves and granite cills. Principal elevation (NE) to St Peter’s Street is symmetrical. A door to each end is now metal sheeted and has a granite threshold. Over each is an advanced stucco plaque, with faded lettering. Between the doors are three equally spaced 6/6 margin-paned sash windows (sheeted over to bottom section). Above, to first floor, are five equally spaced 6/3 sashes (un-margined) in line with the ground floor openings and diminished slightly both in height and width. Left (SE) elevation is painted rubble stone at ground floor, it has a plain modern door to ground floor left and a 1/1 sash window to right. Over ground floor is a corrugated metal canopy roof on metal trusses. First floor is rendered and blank. Rear (SW) elevation is blank and abutted to left by the left gable of no.20 Thomas Street. Exposed remaining section to right is cement-rendered and blank. No eaves or gutters on this side. Concrete block chimney rises from middle of wall head (evidently a rebuilding of the original). Right (NW) elevation to Thomas Street has two windows to each floor as those to main elevation.
