2 Havelock Place, Warrenpoint, Newry, Co Down, BT34 3NE

This is a two-and-a-half-story, two-bay house, originally built between 1840 and 1859 as part of a terrace of four identical houses at the western end of Havelock Place in Warrenpoint. The building has been significantly altered and retains no original architectural or historical features.

The house is the second from left in the terrace and has a pitched roof covered with artificial slate. A cement-rendered chimney is located at the left end. The front has two modern, canted dormers with canted roofs and modern windows. The front walls are cement-rendered with stepped quoins on either side. A modern door with a plain semicircular fanlight is on the ground floor to the right, with a wide window to its left and two windows to the first floor. All windows are top-hung timber casements with modern rendered architraves. A low, raised dwarf wall encloses the small front area. The left gable is a party wall shared with the adjacent property, as is the right gable. The rear elevation was not inspected.

A block of five houses is shown on a town map from 1834, although their dimensions are not specified in the Valuation book. The fact that the 1861 map shows only four houses suggests a complete rebuilding occurred between those dates. The 1863 Valuation book described the house as measuring 7.5 yards wide by 9 yards deep, with 2.5 storeys and a 1.75-story return. A later 19th-century photograph by Lawrence shows a cast iron skylight on the front pitch, with all windows being 8/8 sliding sashes and harled walls with railings on the front dwarf wall.
