Description

A single-storey three-bay vernacular dwelling, with outbuilding to left gable, aligned NE-SW on a lane off Drumintee Road. Pitched roofs, varying in height. From left they are detailed as follows: corrugated metal, natural slate with remains of a whitewashed chimney to left end, natural slate (half-side lapped) with a cement-rendered and coped chimney to right gable. Façade is cement rendered and whitewashed, with a contrasting painted base course. Remaining walls are whitewashed random rubble. All windows are set in painted reveals with painted concrete cills. Principal elevation faces SE. Left bay has a central fixed pane window. Central bay is slightly taller and has a 2x3 metal-framed casement to left and a windbreak porch to right. Porch has a pitched natural slate roof with plain timber bargeboards. Front face has a t+g sheeted door; right and left cheeks are blank. Right bay is lower and has a 2x3 metal-framed casement window to centre. Left gable is completely abutted by an outbuilding (of no interest). Rear elevation is has a small fixed-pane window with no cill, set to right of centre bay. Right gable is blank. Setting: The house is prominently sited on the E slope of Slieve Gullion and is accessed by a long lane with rubble stone boundary walls.
