26 Mountain Road, Killevy, Newry, Co Armagh, BT35 8TB

This is a single-storey, two-bay vernacular dwelling, likely built between 1840 and 1859, situated in the townland of Drumintee, Killevy, near Newry. It forms an attractive grouping with the adjacent property at number 28, which is also recorded as a heritage asset (HB16/15/045B). The property and its associated outbuildings are located within the Slieve Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Slieve Gullion Forest Park and are well maintained.

The dwelling is aligned roughly east-west, with number 26 positioned to the east. It features a natural slate roof and a brick chimney on each gable. A windbreak porch with a monopitched natural slate roof is situated at the right end of the left bay, featuring a tongue-and-groove (t+g) sheeted door facing south, with blank cheeks on either side. Each bay contains a 1/1 sliding sash window with a painted granite cill. A small dog house abuts the left gable. The rear elevation and the right gable are blank.

Several outbuildings are located to the north and south of the main dwelling, all having corrugated metal roofs and tongue-and-groove sheeted openings and are in good condition. These are considered to contribute to the setting and group value of the site.

A building is depicted at this location on the 1861 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map and subsequent editions. The property remains in private ownership and is currently used as a house.
