Description
Middle one of a terrace of three, three-storey late 19thC houses facing the sea on NW side of street. This building is on the corner of Seaview and Queen Street with its main entrance to Queen Street. This and the adjacent property (HB16/12/021C) are a single unit but are described separately here as they were originally separate buildings. Pitched natural slate roof large rendered chimney to right. Rear pitch has a gabled dormer to right with modern casement window. Moulded overhanging eaves course carries crested gutters. Front (SE) wall (to Seaview) is rendered and painted, with band rustication to ground floor and lined to upper floor. Chamfered basecourse and a frieze below the continuous cill courses on the upper floors. Right bay is narrower than the left one and contains the main entrance in a shouldered opening with moulded arris. Door is modern stained framed t+g timber with matching timber glazed sidelights (top half glazed) and a three-piece transom over all. Directly above is a single 1/1 sliding sash window to each upper floor. Both have stop-end chamfered reveals and that to second floor is slightly diminished in height. The left bay has a canted bay window rising full height, with canted roof tied into main roof and sharing common eaves. Each face of the bay window has a 1/1 sliding sash window with horns. Again they all have stop-end chamfered reveals and those to second floor are slightly diminished in height. All have stop-chamfered reveals. A low rendered dwarf wall and hedge enclose garden to front and right. Left gable forms party wall with no.6 Seaview (HB16/12/021A). Right gable forms party wall with 'Coolbawn' no.8 Seaview (HB16/12/021C). The rear (NW) elevation is abutted by a return at right with the roof as lean to with the return of no. 8. The rearwall is smooth rendered and painted. Exposed section of rear elevation has modern porch to ground floor, original opening to first floor with modern tripartite (horizontally divided) window and second floor modern window in wdened opening. Half round rainwater goods. Return is described with that of no. 8. A low rendered dwarf wall and hedge enclose garden to front.
