Description
This is a late 19th-century terrace house, part of a group of four similar houses along the seafront. It is the second house from the right, situated on the north-west side of the street. The roof is pitched and covered in natural slate, with a rendered chimney at the right end; a modern skylight is present in the front roof pitch. The eaves have a moulded advanced course, with ogee aluminium gutters.
The front facade is rendered and painted, featuring rusticated detailing to the ground floor and lining to the upper floor. A chamfered base course and continuous moulded cill courses run across the upper floors. The left bay is narrower, containing the main entrance within a semi-elliptical opening framed with lined voussoirs. The entrance has a two-panelled door with glazed sidelights and aprons; consoles support a timber entablature below a fanlight with a roundel inset. Above the entrance is a single, top-hung uPVC window on each upper floor. The first-floor window has a moulded architrave, while the second-floor window is slightly reduced in height. The right bay features a full-height canted bay window, with a canted roof that ties into the main roof with shared eaves. Each face of the bay window has a top-hung uPVC window, with the first-floor windows having moulded architraves and the second-floor windows slightly reduced in height. A rendered dwarf wall encloses the front garden, which has a tiled path and no gate.
The left gable forms a shared wall with number 2 Seaview, and the right gable with number 4 Seaview. The rear elevation was not inspected.
The house first appears in the Valuation Revision book of 1880 and was occupied from 1881.
