Description

This is a late 19th-century end-of-terrace house, altered since its original construction, located on the northwest side of the seafront in Warrenpoint. It is one of a terrace of four similar three-story, two-bay houses. The pitched roof is covered in natural slate, with a tiled verge on the left side and rendered chimneys at each end. A moulded eaves course supports ogee metal gutters.

The front elevation is rendered and painted, with rusticated detailing to the ground floor and lined detailing to the upper floors. A chamfered base course and continuous moulded cill courses run across the upper floors. The left bay is narrower and contains the main entrance in a semi-elliptical opening with lined voussoirs. The entrance is a two-panelled door with glazed sidelights (with aprons), topped by a fanlight with a roundel inset, and flanked by consoles carrying a timber entablature. A modern, top-hung uPVC casement window sits above the entrance. The first-floor window retains a moulded architrave, while the second-floor window is slightly smaller. A metal plaque to the left of the first floor window reads “SEAVIEW”. The right bay features a full-height canted bay window with a roof that ties into the main roofline and shares common eaves. It contains a top-hung uPVC casement window on each face; those to the first floor have moulded architraves, and those to the second floor are slightly smaller. A rendered dwarf wall and hedge enclose the front garden. The left gable forms a party wall with 5 Seaview (listed building HB16/12/022C). A modern top-hung uPVC casement window is set into the right gable between the ground and first floors. The rear elevation was not inspected.

The house first appears in the Valuation Revision book entry of 1880 and was occupied from 1881 onwards.
