8 & 9 Seaview, Warrenpoint, Newry, Co Down, BT34 3NJ

This description relates to the former buildings at 8 and 9 Seaview, Warrenpoint, Co Down. The pair of houses probably date to the early 19th century, appearing on an 1835 large-scale town map and in the first valuation of the same year, which recorded them as measuring 32ft x 19ft x 17ft. The buildings have now been demolished, and a new apartment block stands on their site.

According to early survey documentation, the houses were identical. They featured pitched natural slate roofs with tiled skew to the right gable, with cement-rendered chimneys positioned at either end of the roof ridge and one on the party wall between the two houses. Half-round metal rainwater goods drained to a downpipe falling to the centre of number 8. The walls were painted lined render, with stepped quoins at the left and right ends, but not between the houses. Each house had a door at the extreme left end of the façade, number 8 featuring a multi-glazed door with glazed sidelights and number 9 a four-panelled door. Both houses possessed small vestibules. Each house had a plain fanlight above its front door, and a 1/1 sash window above it on the first floor. Ground and first floor left featured tripartite sash windows, with a central sash flanked by narrower 1/1 sashes. The left house (number 8) had a 1/1 tripartite window, whereas the right house (number 9) had a 2/2 window.
