25-27 Church Street, Warrenpoint, Newry, Co Down, BT34 3HN

A building, likely dating from around 1800, stood at 25-27 Church Street, Warrenpoint, Newry, Co Down. It was a three-storey building, partially occupied as a shop on the ground floor, with rendered walls and a slated roof. Raised quoins were present at the extremities of the building. The windows were double-hung, four panes wide with glazing bars, and also single vertical glazing bars. An original shop window featured panelled pilasters rising to a frieze and cornice. According to an initial survey from 1969, the building was of poor order. An earlier record from 1834 described the building as 24 feet by 25 feet by 19 feet high, while the 1863 record described it as 8 yards square and two and a half storeys high. The building was demolished and replaced by a modern three-storey building with an artificial slate roof, rendered walls, and a shop frontage for Walsh’s Pharmacy.
