Description

This is a three-storey, two-bay terrace house located on the north-west side of the street fronting the sea in Warrenpoint. It’s one of six similar houses and is positioned as the second house from the left end of the terrace. The house was built between 1880 and 1899, forming the final pair in the terrace, with Nos. 17 and 18 having been erected in 1877. It was delisted on 14 January 1998.

The house’s design has been altered significantly, though it maintains proportions consistent with the other buildings along the seafront. It features a pitched roof covered in natural slate, with a rendered chimney at the right end. The overhanging eaves have a moulded course carrying half-round metal gutters on an eaves board. The front wall is pebble-dashed. The left bay is narrower than the right, and contains the main entrance in a semi-elliptical headed opening. This entrance is fitted with a modern door and sidelights, supported by consoles carrying a timber entablature under a fanlight. A modern glazed timber porch, with a hipped artificial slate roof on a dwarf brick wall, abuts the entrance. Above each floor are single modern top-hung timber windows, with the second-floor window being diminished in height. The right bay has a full-height canted bay window with a canted natural slate roof that ties into the main roof, sharing common eaves. Each face of the bay window has a modern top-hung timber window; the side windows are narrower than the front window, and the second-floor windows are slightly reduced in height. A modern brick wall and steel railings enclose the front garden, with a modern front gate. The left gable shares a party wall with No. 13 Seaview (listed building HB16/12/017A), while the right gable shares a party wall with No. 15 Seaview (listed building HB16/12/017C). The rear elevation was not inspected. The property appears in the Valuation revision book entry form 1880, alongside No. 13.
