Description

This is a two-storey, three-bay house built between 1820 and 1839, situated directly on Main Street in Rosslea Village, County Fermanagh. It is one of the few buildings in the village to retain its original appearance. The house is aligned northeast-southwest, facing the road on the southeastern side of Main Street. It has a pitched roof covered in artificial slate, with three brick chimneys: one to each gable. The chimney to the left extends above the ridge level of the neighboring building, which is taller, and the chimney between the central and right bay features decorative brick coping. A slightly advanced cement-rendered eaves course supports half-round metal rainwater goods with a downpipe on the right side. The principal, northwest-facing elevation has pebble-dashed walls, framed by a slightly advanced cement-rendered base course, vertical cement-rendered bands to either end, and the eaves course. All windows are 6/6 exposed box sliding sashes set in narrow cement-rendered reveals with stone cills; the first-floor windows are smaller and have heads at eaves level. The left bay has a window on each floor, with the first-floor window slightly offset to the right of the ground-floor window. The central bay has a triple-panelled timber door with obscured glass in the top panel, set within a cement-rendered architrave. A window is located to the right of the door, with another window above it, offset slightly to the left. The right bay has two windows on each floor, aligned with each other. Both the left and right gables are closely abutted by taller buildings. The rear elevation was not accessible for inspection. A building is depicted at this location on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map, although it was not possible to confirm the dimensions from valuation records. The house is currently used as a private residence.
