Description

Large disused rubble built lime kiln of possible mid 19th century construction, set built into a hillside just to the S of the main drive to Ballywhite House (E of Lough Shore Road, c.2 miles NW of Portaferry). The kiln has a central fire place opening with red brick dressings to deeply recessed fire area. The westerly facing front façade is battered. The side walls are blank while the rear wall is obscured by the earth ramp. The sides, top and rear are not possible to view due to the rampant undergrowth.
