Description

Long, T- shaped, single storey, gabled cottage of probable pre 1834 origin, but much altered and extended in recent years. The property is situated on a rise to the E of the Lough Shore Road, 1½ miles NW of the town of Portaferry. Front S elevation consists of a side of the long vertical stroke of the ‘T’ shape and has right of centre timber panel door with plain sidelights. Two modern casement windows to left of door. To right of door is slightly projecting gable (of horizontal stroke of ‘T’) with modern timber corner window to left. East elevation consists of the short horizontal of ‘T’ shape and has modern three pane timber window to right with small timber and wire fronted ‘game’ cupboard attached to wall (i.e. for hanging peasants in etc.). Rear N has projecting gable (of horizontal of ‘T’ shape) to left with corner timber window to right of gable. To right of projecting gable (on vertical of ‘T’ shape) are four modern timber windows. Timber and glazed back door between second and third windows. West elevation is the gable end of the long vertical of the ‘T’ shape and has a large fixed light window. Entire facade finished in rough cast render and painted. Pitched roof with concrete tiles and single red brick chimney stack. PVC gutters and down spouts.
