Description

Relatively small and simple two storey late Victorian double-fronted house (now a shop) of 1887 with gabled half-dormers. The property is set within a mixed terrace on the north west side of Main Street, Greyabbey. The gabled roof is slated and has two yellow brick chimney stacks. Overhang at eaves. Cast iron ogee gutters and square down spouts. The front (SE) facade has central doorway with panelled and glazed timber door and plain fanlight all encased with plain pilasters, lintel frieze and cornice. Door surround painted to give ‘marble’ effect. Sash window to left of door with horizontal and vertical astragals (4/4), with a similar window to right. Two windows to first floor, as before, set in gabled half dormers. Overhang to half dormer roofs. Front facade finished in plain render (painted to give slightly ‘sponged’/ marbled effect) with chamfered quoins and plinth. Small timber shop sign board to left of ground floor left hand window. Exposed section of NE gable finished in rough cast render. SW gable blank and rendered also. Small pedestrian gateway (to narrow alleyway between Nos.10 and 12) attached to SW gable. No access to rear, either from the outside or from the interior.
