2 Main Street, Greyabbey, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT22 2NE

This is a relatively plain, two-storey roughcast terrace house dating from approximately 1840 to 1850, located on the north west side of Main Street in Greyabbey. It is one of four originally similar properties, though the two to the northeast have now been combined into a single dwelling. The front elevation is asymmetrical and faces approximately southeast.

The left side of the ground floor features a timber-glazed door with a semicircular arched fanlight, framed by plain painted stone pilasters and arch surround. This arched doorway is reminiscent of those found in other terraces in Newtownards. To the right of the door is a sash window with 6-over-6 panes. Above these ground floor openings are two first-floor windows, similarly styled but with shorter 6-over-3 panes. The facade is finished in roughcast with plain, narrow window surrounds. A large return with a monopitched roof extends to the rear, and the slate gabled roof has a single rendered chimney stack shared with number 4. Original cast iron rainwater goods are present at the front.

The short terrace was built sometime between 1834 and 1860. The building has group value. The house possesses architectural interest due to its style, proportions, and ornamentation, although some alterations have detracted from its original character. It holds local historical interest.
