10 Main Street, Greyabbey, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT22 2NE

This is a relatively small, one-and-a-half-storey terrace house dating to c.1890, located on the north-western side of Main Street in Greyabbey. It is likely a remodelling of an earlier dwelling. The front facade is finished in rough cast with plain moulded quoins. The slated roof has a single, centrally located yellow brick chimney stack, with bargeboards on the gables that match the moulding around the windows.

The front elevation is asymmetrical. A timber panelled door, featuring a plain fanlight, is set to the left, encased by plain pilasters, a lintel frieze, and a cornice. To the left of the door are three sash windows with simple moulded surrounds. Two similar windows are located on the upper floor, set within gabled half dormers. A cill course to the upper floor windows incorporates a cast iron ogee gutter and three short, square gutters running from another ogee gutter eaves course. The north-east gable is blank and rendered. There is no access to the rear.

An Ordnance Survey map from 1834 indicates that part of the site was previously occupied by the southwestern end of a terrace. While the gabled half dormers suggest a late Victorian date, similarities exist with a detached property built around 1887 to the north-east. However, the irregular arrangement of the front openings suggests a possible remodelling of an older house.
