Description
The site at 26 Main Street, Greyabbey, represents the footprint of a former two-story house likely dating to the early nineteenth century. A building is depicted on this site on the Ordnance Survey map of 1834. The house was demolished around the 1980s and the site is now used as a car park for Trinity Presbyterian Church.
According to a 1975 Historic Monuments and Buildings Board survey card, the house had an asbestos slate roof, gable chimneys, walls finished with a dry-dash render, and featured three ground-floor and two first-floor windows with Georgian panes. It had a central flush-panel front door. The condition of the building was noted to be fair.
Valuation records from approximately 1834 to 1930 are held at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), as are Ordnance Survey maps and plans. A photograph of Main Street, Greyabbey, looking southwest, is included in the W.A. Green Collection.
