Description

This milestone, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, is located at Washford Cross in Williton. It is made of sandstone and cast iron. The structure features a monolithic slab with a cambered head, which has been reset into the bank at the roadside. It stands approximately 600 mm high and has an attached cast iron plaque with a semicircular headed top. The plaque is inscribed with "7 Miles to Minehead" and includes a benchmark below.
