Description
This milestone, dating from the early 19th century, is made of sandstone and cast iron. It features a cambered head that stands about 700 mm high, with an attached cast iron plaque. The semi-circular central section of the head is inscribed with the incised lettering: '11 miles to Minehead'. The road on which it stands was turnpiked in 1824.
