Description
Shawford Farmhouse and the attached barn date from the early 18th century, with a late 19th-century addition and 20th-century alterations. The buildings are constructed of random rubble with a pantile roof, and the barn features stone slates at the eaves. The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics and has three bays. It includes two and three-light hollow moulded stone-mullioned windows, with those on the ground floor set under stopped labels. There is a 20th-century two-light chamfered stone mullioned window in the centre of the ground floor, which is in a blocked former door opening. To the right, there is a 19th-century outshut that is two storeys tall and one bay wide, featuring a triple-Roman tile roof and two-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows on the first floor. The ground floor has a door opening with a 20th-century glazed door and sidelights, along with a half-glazed 20th-century rubble porch topped with a double-Roman tile roof. There is also a single-storey 20th-century outshut to the right with a single bowed casement. The barn, which is contiguous to the left of the farmhouse, is two storeys high and has a projecting gabled wing at the front. It features a broad door opening, although the doors are missing, and has weatherboarding above with an entrance to a pigeon loft. There is a pent roof outshut to the left of the barn's frontage, and the barn has a pegged "A" frame roof from the 18th century.
